BedInABox® — Frequently Asked Questions

Mattresses and Sleep Accessories

What is the density of your memory foam?

We use a minimum of 3 lb density memory foam in all of our mattresses and toppers. The rebound is much quicker, which means you can change positions with ease and not feel “stuck.” Our memory foam is not affected by changes in temperature. You do not have to wait for your body temperature to “warm” the mattress up, so it will not be firmer in a cooler room and softer in a warmer room. It will have a consistent feel no matter the room temperature.

Is your foam CeriPUR-US certified?

Yes, all of our foams are CertiPUR-US® certified, which means they do not contain any harmful chemicals.

How do I clean my mattress cover?

If something has happened to your mattress cover we recommend spot cleaning it with a mild household fabric or upholstery cleaner. Be sure to test a small area first to ensure that the cleaner doesn’t cause any discoloration or damage the fabric in any way. You should also avoid using any thick bristled brushes to scrub the cover as this can cause damage to the fabric as well. We do recommend a waterproof mattress protector to keep your mattress looking great and stain free.

Are your products made in the USA?

Unlike some of our competitors, all BedInABox® mattresses and mattress toppers are made entirely in the USA. These products are manufactured, packaged, and shipped from our facility in Mount Airy, North Carolina.

Orders and Shipping

Do you charge sales tax?

By law, sales tax is collected in certain states. Certain states also charge a recycling fee for any order that includes the purchase of a mattress. This fee is paid for at the time of checkout.

What is a mattress recycling fee?

Bye Bye Mattress is a mattress recycling program operating in several states. The program was established by law and is operated by Mattress Recycling Council, a nonprofit that uses a recycling fee collected on each mattress and box spring sold, making recycling easier in our communities. The state law requires retailers to collect a recycling fee on each mattress and box spring sold. The amount of the fee is set and approved by the state, not by individual retailers. To see the details of the recycling fee in your state click here or call 1.855.229.1691.

These fees fund the state’s recycling program, which is administered by the Mattress Recycling Council. Whether a city picks up your discarded mattress, a retailer takes it back with your new purchase or you drop it off, the Bye Bye Mattress program converts your old product from waste to recycling. As a result, our landfills and incinerators are less crowded as old mattresses are recycled into new, useful products.
